Overview

 

The vast East Lake has shimmering water; by the shore of the East Lake, apricot blossoms are fragrant. The renowned Wuhan Orthopedic Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (Affiliated Hospital of Wuhan Sports University) is the only public grade-A tertiary orthopedic hospital of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in Hubei Province. The total construction area of the hospital is approximately 24,000 square meters. Currently, there are 450 open beds. It has reached the construction scale of "one general hospital, one branch hospital area, four health service stations, and four school hospitals." The hospital has won the "May 1st" Labor Certificate of Hubei Province and the advanced collective in Wuhan's fight against the epidemic. Many individuals and collectives have won hundreds of national, provincial, municipal, and district-level commendations. The "Precise Acupotomy Therapy" has been approved as a representative intangible cultural heritage project at the district level in Hongshan District.

The hospital was originally established in 1975. With the approval of the Seventh Research Institute of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, "Wuhan Hospital of the Seventh Research Institute" was established. Later, it was renamed as Wuhan 672 Hospital of the China Shipbuilding Research Institute and was subordinate to the Seventh Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation. In 1997, it was listed as Wuhan Second Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. In 2014, it was renamed as "Wuhan 672 Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine". In 2018, the hospital was upgraded to a tertiary specialized hospital and renamed as "Hubei 672 Orthopedic Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine". In 2022, in order to comply with the relevant policy requirements for deepening the reform of medical institutions run by state-owned enterprises, it was transferred and became a directly affiliated hospital of Wuhan Institute of Physical Education with the approval of the provincial establishment office in November.

Advanced equipment and superior hardware. The hospital is equipped with modern hundred-level laminar flow operating rooms, ten-thousand-level laminar flow disinfection supply centers, two 1.5T nuclear magnetic resonance imagers, two 64-slice CT scanners, digital fluoroscopy and photography X-ray systems, high-end color ultrasound machines, fully automatic biochemical analyzers, high-grade anesthesia machines, ventilators, minimally invasive surgical instruments, arthroscopy, surgical microscopes, percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy, ultrasonic bone knives, all-carbon fiber operating tables, OEC-9900 mobile C-arms, G-arms, fundus fluorescein angiography cameras, ophthalmic optical biometers, ophthalmic optical coherence tomography scanners, ophthalmic surgical microscopes and other advanced equipment to meet the needs of clinical medical treatment and patients.

A gathering of talents. There are 706 employees in the hospital, including 593 health professionals. There are 89 people with senior professional titles (25 with senior professional titles and 64 with deputy senior professional titles). There are 115 people with master's or doctorate degrees or above. There is one doctoral supervisor and 13 master's supervisors. The hospital has hired one world-renowned spine master as a visiting professor and one top domestic orthopedic professor as the chief expert in orthopedics. One person has been employed as an academic heir of Master Wei Guikang, a national master of orthopedics and traumatology. One person has been selected for a provincial talent project. Eight people have been rated as the backbone medical talents of Wuhan middle-aged and young people. One person has been identified as the "Donghu Scholar" of Wuhan Institute of Physical Education.

Diversified specialties and strong strength. The hospital has 12 clinical professional disciplines and 11 clinical auxiliary departments. Orthopedics and traumatology is the characteristic and advantageous discipline of the hospital. There are currently 8 major wards and 9 secondary specialties. It has 2 key traditional Chinese medicine specialties in Hubei Province (orthopedics and traumatology department, acupuncture and rehabilitation department), and 3 key specialties in Wuhan (orthopedics department, acupuncture department, geriatrics department). The "Sino-German Minimally Invasive Spine Exchange Center" was established; two discipline groups of "integration of medical care and rehabilitation" and "enhanced recovery after surgery" were created; "orthopedic rehabilitation center" and "sports rehabilitation center" have formed key specialty groups that focus on orthopedics, sports medicine, and rehabilitation and attach equal importance to traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

Scientific research and teaching, striving for excellence. The hospital currently has 84 various scientific research projects and 34 medical monographs. It has been approved for one project of Hubei Natural Science Foundation Program and five scientific research projects of Hubei Provincial Health Commission and Traditional Chinese Medicine Administration. It has obtained 97 national patents and achieved three scientific research achievements transformations. It has the national key research and development plan demonstration center project - the biomedical material research and development and clinical application demonstration center for tissue and organ repair and replacement. At present, it is actively creating the "Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine Orthopedics and Traumatology and Sports Rehabilitation of Wuhan Institute of Physical Education".

The hospital has always adhered to the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis and treatment services, created the "classic ward of traditional Chinese medicine for orthopedics and traumatology", constructed the echelon and group of specialties with characteristics of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine of "five specialties and six haves", and continuously improved the service ability and service level of characteristic specialties. By using the scientific and technological achievements in the fields of medicine and sports, it has created a characteristic service model of "integration of sports and health" integrating "sports + health management", "sports + rehabilitation", "sports + traditional Chinese medicine", and "sports + orthopedics and traumatology". It has explored and achieved remarkable results in aspects such as national physical fitness monitoring, precise intervention of chronic disease sports, and construction of sports health knowledge system.

Focusing on the characteristics of "integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine", the hospital implements environmental optimization projects, patient experience projects, and brand culture shaping projects.
